| Illinois Central, and later
Illinois Central Gulf, was having so much success rebuilding geeps that
they started buying units that were from other railroads. UP 282 was
built in September 1954 was rebuilt into GP11 8702. 8702 was
released in June of 1979. It was later repainted into the new IC
black and white scheme. It was retired on November 19th, 1999. It was sold to the Ohio Central Railroad
for use on the Columbus and Ohio River on May 22nd, 2000, being
renumbered CUOH 8702. Notes: Note the lack of a "GP11" tag. Tags weren't applied until the 8710 unit. Date in Solid Orange: June 23rd 1979 - ?? |
