History In 1878,
the Illinois Central Railroad
undertook a project to connect its two North-South lines closer to
Chicago. Undertaken more-or-less under the Kankakee & South

Minonk JCT with a second line branching off at Saxony to Normal. In
addition, a short segment was built Northwest from Buckingham. |
